By admin On November 29, 2009 Under debt free

I got credit cards when i was young, and as a result, have bad credit because of collections and such. I am now DEPT FREE but want to start rebuilding my credit score. What should i do?

Try to delete items that are old – over 7 years.
Never delete your oldest account since this establishes length of credit history – 15% of the fico.
Don’t close accounts in good standing – it will reduce your overall available credit limit on all your cards.

Get a good book at your library/bookstore.
Look in the finance section for credit report repair or debt repair.

Don’t ever get a credit card that charges annual fees – credit will never be worth it.
I would rather see you getting a secured card at your local bank.
Premier bank has the most complaints and highest fees of any card I have ever seen in my life.
